Scott's early work often experimented with symmetry through repetition of small abstract forms. She studied at the École des beaux-arts in Montréal, and the Slade School of Art in London. In her paintings of landscapes and plant life, geometric organization is evident. A series of human faces, influenced by Modigliani, show strong linear forms set ambiguously in a background of heavy black paint. During the Depression, Scott depicted the people of Montréal in pictures like 'Tenants' and 'Escalator'. These works showed such figures up against machines, bureaucracy and hard times.

She joined the Contemporary Arts Society in 1939, and in 1941 she had a solo show at Boston's Grace Horne Gallery. From 1948-77 she exhibited in nine solo exhibitions in Montréal, Toronto, and Québec City. In 1983 she exhibited in London, ON, in the show "Visions and Victories: 10 Canadian Women Artists".
