About the exhibition

With the Holiday Season approaching, Loch Gallery, Calgary is pleased to feature a selection of Historical works  to consider for those special people on your list.

For those on your list with an appreciation of Contemporary Art,  or to consider adding a new piece to your own collection, please view  the work of our talented Contemporary Artists, many of whom have recently had new works added to our website.

Introduction of new artist, Les Thomas

Loch Gallery also takes this opportunity to introduce the most recent addition to our roster of artists, senior Alberta artist, Les Thomas. From  his home studio in Bragg Creek, Les has created boldly coloured paintings of wildlife layered within intricate graphic patterns  to present impactful and ultimately joyful images.

With aspects of both Pop Art and Realism, Thomas' paintings display the painterly application of layers of oil paint applied to canvas or panel with a variety of spatulas. His paintings play with the relationship between animals and culture and are set within highly patterned spaces that the artist hopes evoke an atmosphere akin to the natural surroundings of the animals.

Please join us in welcoming Les to Loch Gallery and drop by the Calgary gallery to view his paintings in person.
