About the Exhibition

The majority of the paintings in this exhibition are about the Sea. All of them are about light – its reflective qualities, how photography captures it and the magical ways in which it recasts the natural world.

In his own words, Bolt writes, “I revel in the infinite variety of the natural world and my work is an act of preservation. To preserve the natural world is to preserve a language. It’s the language of the wind and shifting light, of silence, stillness and space. It allows us to converse with the other voices, the voices of our true aspirations, our regrets, our hopes.”

Ron Bolt’s paintings, drawings and prints, found in private, public and corporate collections across this country, remain a testament to that statement.

Please note that all paintings are subject to pre-sale as the works have now arrived in the gallery and are ready for viewing. If you have an interest in any of the works listed in the exhibition, please let us know at your earliest convenience.

With kindest regards,

Alan Loch

About Ron Bolt

Ron Bolt was born in Toronto in 1938. His career spans close to forty years. As a painter, he has held over seventy one solo exhibitions in Public and Commercial galleries in Canada and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in the United States, Mexico, England, Japan and China. Commissions include two Government murals, three books and numerous corporate and private installations. His paintings, prints and limited edition books are in the collections of museums, public galleries and major libraries in Canada and abroad.

In all of the artists' paintings whether the subject is the coastal waters of Vancouver Island, the rocky shores of Newfoundland or the Snake River of the Yukon, it is the inner voyage that begins for the artist as soon as the first mark is made on the canvas.  If the creation of a painting is a voyage for the artist, discovering and understanding the meaning of the painting is a voyage for the viewer.
