| Iconic Canadian Artist Shows His Canadian Pride |
|
Who knew that a pile of junk could look so good? “The Canadian Goalie”, a sculpture made entirely of found objects by artist, Patrick Amiot and featured at the Molson Canadian Hockey House, east of the GM place in Vancouver, is sure to enliven the giant 4 –storey tent with smiling faces from fond memories of Canada’s favourite pastime.
“This piece arose out of my romantic memories of Canada,” says the self-taught artist who draws from a vivid cast of characters referencing his Canadian past including iconic Canadian symbols: moose, bears, and of course hockey greats. “I pride myself on the fact that I was born the night that Jacques Plante first put his mask on,” he chuckles.
