Biography

Zhong Yang Huang was born in Canton, Guangdong, China, where he received both his B.F.A. and M.F.A. Influenced by traditional Chinese painting techniques and by European art of the 18th and 19th centuries, Yang's oil and watercolor painting display a soft-edged realism. In 1984, his mastery of both media, won him the silver medal at the sixth National Art Exhibition held in his native country. In the mid-eighties, Yang moved to North America. He established himself in Saskatchewan, where he completed his second M.F.A. at the University of Regina. He has been the featured artist in numerous exhibitions, including shows in New York and Toronto. Loch Gallery has hosted four exhibitions of his work which has been enthusiastically received. In 1991, Yang's work was highlighted at a solo exhibition in Hong Kong at the Festival of Arts of Canada. The occasion marked the opening of the new Canadian Embassy in that city. Interest in the work of this outstanding artist continues to grow. Today, his paintings are found in both private and corporate collections throughout the world. Yang presently resides in Regina, Saskatchewan.
