Biography
Jane Smaldone was born in New York in 1953. The artist would later attend the State University of New York (1973) and attain her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in Boston (1976).Smaldone's paintings combine her long-standing interests in landscape and still-life with a new element-the human figure. The artist borrows from a number of distinct art historical traditions, including Chinese landscape painting, late 19th C. French Symbolism, folk art, Surrealism and both Italian Renaissance and American Colonial portraiture.
The artist lives and works in the United States, and her work can be seen in a number of private and corporate collections internationally.
